Talk about having some sweet footwear. Pop-Tarts and Crocs are partnering on a promotion to create “Pop-Tarts Croc-Tarts,” a combined package that includes shoes and toaster pastries.
The limited-edition promo includes a pair of custom Crocs clogs along with Pop-Tarts-inspired Jibbitz charms (decorations that go in the holes in the shoes) and a package of unfrosted strawberry Pop-Tarts that come with Crocs-shaped candies that can be used to decorate the food.
The partnership was inspired by a shared similarity among the two brands: holes. Like Crocs, unfrosted Pop-Tarts are dotted with holes to allow steam to escape when cooking (a shared trait with crackers).
“When thinking about bringing these two iconic and beloved brands together, we couldn’t help but notice the uncanny similarity of the Crocs shoes and Unfrosted Pop-Tarts.,” stated Heidi Ray, senior director of marketing, Pop-Tarts. “We’re excited to unveil our newest snacking twist, an interactive experience where fans can add flavor to both using fun and distinct charms.”
The brands will be selling a total of 240 limited edition Pop-Tarts Croc-Tarts kits through four separate product drops beginning on August 9th. Fans can register for the opportunity to purchase the kits by registering on croc-tarts.com. The kits will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis to those selected.
Creating Jibbitz to promote a product is something of a trend among food brands. Companies including 7-Eleven, Sweetheart Conversation Hearts, Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville and KFC have all partnered with Crocs in recent years on similar promotions.
