Oscar Mayer drops cheese-stuffed dogs, ahead of summer season

  • Oscar Mayer is introducing a new line of hot dogs filled with flavors and cheese, just in time for the grilling season.
  • The new Oscar Mayer Stuffed Dogs will come in three flavors – Cheese, Jalapeno Cheddar and Chili Cheese – and will begin making their way to retailers’ shelves this month.
  • The intro follows the recent introduction of Oscar Mayer-branded meatless “Not Dogs” from the Kraft Heinz Not Company earlier this year.

The new product introduction is designed to address a number of consumer trends, including a desire for bold and unique flavors (according to the Kerry A World of Future Tastes Report), a growing demand for extra spice in their food (per GrubHub’s 2023 Trend Report), and the pace of the cheese dog category in overall dollar growth (according to IRI).

“Our ambition is to spark smiles and be the indisputable leader in taste, which is why we reimagined the iconic Oscar Mayer wiener to meet the evolving preferences of our consumers,” said Molly White, vice president of marketing for Oscar Mayer, in a statement. “Whether seeking a spicy twist or pop of creamy cheese, we strive to feed fans’ appetite for category offerings that are currently only available from quick-service restaurants.”

Earlier this year, the Kraft Heinz Not Company, a joint venture between Oscar Mayer parent Kraft Heinz and the plant-based food maker TheNotCompany, introduced a line of Oscar Mayer branded “NotHotDogs,” the first meat-alternative for the joint venture. The line extension of stuffed hot dogs will not extend to the plant-based products, however.
