Gap taps Fabiola Torres as new global CMO

Gap has hired former PepsiCo exec Fabiola Torres as its new global chief marketing officer, according to a report in Women’s Wear Daily.

The Los Angeles-based executive has held senior leadership roles at Apple, Nike and most recently at PepsiCo, where she was SVP/CMO Energy Drinks/Hispanic Business Unit.

“After 4 years at Pepsico I’ve decided to leave to embark a new journey. This company has taught me a lot in a short period of time, the industry, the category, our brands, the costumers, our always evolving consumer,” Torres confirmed in a LinkedIn post.

She confirmed the move in another LinkedIn post, writing: “I couldn’t have asked for a more exciting week to start as a Global Chief Marketing Officer Gap an iconic brand with a compelling history that celebrates individuality and self-expression for all generations.

“Moments like last night’s Met Gala debut of the hashtag#GapGown on Da’Vine Joy Randolph designed by Zac Posen are a testament to this brand’s fashion and style. Witnessing this all come together, it’s clear that I’m surrounded by a team tapped into the heart of the cultural conversation. I’m looking forward to being a part of the next chapter of this brand, building its future and championing Gap’s amazing legacy,” she continued.

Former Mattel exec Richard Dickson joined Gap in July 2023 as president and CEO, leading the business which includes Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic, and Athleta. One of his tasks was to find a new CMO.

Gap has not had a chief marketing officer for the last year and a half. The leadership position was last occupied by Mary Alderete, who left the brand in November 2022.
