VRBO & Mattel collab on Uno-themed summer rental fun

  • Mattel and VRBO have forged a partnership for the summer that leverages the toy company’s popular Uno card game in the rental company’s homes. 
  • The promotion extends to six properties, two of which will include Uno-themed decor, an Uno/Vrbo-themed welcome kit and a private in-home dining experience. The four others will include the welcome kit. The properties will be available for $4 per night (inspired by the game’s iconic “Draw-4” card. 
  • As part of the partnership, the two companies created a custom deck featuring illustrations by Pietari Posti inspired by popular travel destinations and vacation pastimes. The deck will be included in each of the properties featured in the promotion. (The deck also includes its own special rule – the Vacation Rental Swap – which allows players to swap hands with any other  player.)

“Uno isn’t just a game, it’s a spark that brings people together, from fueling friendly rivalries to creating lasting memories,” said Katie Buford, vice president and global head of Mattel Games, in a statement. “With Vrbo, we’re bringing UNO into these homes and turning them into game-night destinations, giving fans a new way to connect, compete, and play together wherever they are.”

The properties are divided into two tiers. The “Wild Card” tier encompasses two properties – one in Los Angeles and one in Austin, Texas. Those properties include the Uno-themed doctors and in-home dining experience. The four “Play it Your Way” properties are located in Winter Park, Colorado; Palm Desert, California; Panama City Beach, Florida; and Atlanta, Georgia. Those properties all include a welcome kit, a game room, and a pool or hot tub. 

The properties will be available for limited-time bookings beginning at 1 p.m. ET on Friday, May 15. They are all available on a first-come, first-served basis.
