- FIFA and immersive gaming company Gamefam are partnering to bring the World Cup into the metaverse via Roblox.
- Through the tournament, FIFA Super Soccer, the sport’s official home on Roblox, will transform into a central event hub for the World Cup, featuring all 48 qualifying teams, a World Cup stadium and a live connection to tournament standings and scoreboards.
- The online hub will also include gameday quests, player rewards and a massive crossover event that will bring World Cup content to six non-sports-related games on the Roblox platform.

If you want the fans, go where the fans are, and when it comes to Gen Z and Gen Alpha, that place is Robox. FIFA’s official game on Roblox has accumulated more than 1 billion visits and averages 1.5 million daily gameplay sessions, according to the organization.
The World Cup activation is designed to further engage those players by enabling them to compete as one of the 48 qualifying teams (including the 2022 champion, Argentina) in a World Cup-themed stadium featuring flags, official FIFA sponsors on the field’s ad boards, and video boards playing FIFA World Cup reels.
“FIFA has been achieving large-scale success on Roblox, and wants to go even bigger,” said Christian Volk, director of gaming and esports at FIFA, in a statement. “This Roblox event gives a new generation of fans a fun, accessible and interactive way to connect with the tournament.”
The organization is also looking to capture new fans by inserting World Cup content into six Gamefam-created Roblox games. The exact titles were not disclosed, but in addition to FIFA’s game, the list includes two simulation games, a driving/racing game, a social roleplay game and a hobby game. All told, the six gaming sites record a cumulative 28 million gameplay sessions a week.
A “connected quest system” will take players across the participating games as they complete challenges and unlock tournament-themed rewards, including hats, wristbands and shoes.
The activation launched on June 5 and will run through Friday, July 31. Once the tournament is over, the FIFA Super Soccer destination will return to its regular look and gameplay.
