Starbucks revealed plans to restructure its global leadership and transition its structure, and as part of this transition, the current global CMO Brady Brewer will assume the role of CEO of Starbucks International.
The company said that it will not replace the global chief marketing position and instead each geographic ceo will have regional marketing support.
In his new position, Brewer will lead teams in Asia Pacific, EMEA, Japan and LAC. Brewer has been with the company for more than 20 years serving in global, regional and market-specific roles, including as senior vice president in Starbucks Asia Pacific, as chief operating officer of Starbucks Japan, before taking over the role of evp, chief marketing officer. He will start the new post as CEO of Starbucks International on April 1.
“We are making strong progress against our Triple Shot with Two Pumps Reinvention plan,” Laxman Narasimhan, Starbucks chief executive officer, said in a company meeting, shared on the brand’s website. “To further accelerate progress, consistent with our ambitions, we are realigning the organization to balance clear geographical focus with investing in functional capabilities to scale around the world, generating productivity and reinvigorating our partner culture.”
This shift comes as the company is focused on international growth with 75% of 55,000 new store openings planned for outside the U.S. as part of the firm’s global strategic plan.
