Fernando Machado is a global marketer with a passion for growing brands and businesses. Fernando is known for believing that creativity can be a source of competitive advantage. And over the years he built a reputation from himself (and the brands he worked on) around distinctive propositions, innovation, design and overall marketing approach.
Fernando is now the Global Chief Marketing Officer for the NotCompany (NotCo). He joined the unicorn start up valued in $1.5bn in April 2023. NotCo is an industry-changing, fast-growth food tech leader and the only global company disrupting massive food and beverage segments including dairy, eggs, and meat simultaneously. NotCo utilizes a proprietary artificial intelligence technology, which matches animal proteins to their ideal replacements among thousands of plant-based ingredients.
Before NotCo, Fernando spent 2 years as CMO at Activision Blizzard. He was responsible for the marketing initiatives of some of the most exciting titles in the gaming industry (Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, Diablo, Overwatch, Candy Crush, among others).
Fernando spent 7 years at Restaurant Brands International (Burger King, Popeyes and Tim Hortons) prior to Activision. His focus was to infuse the brands with purpose (incl. sustainability), improving product quality, modernizing design, and inspiring the organization around tech, digital and brand development.
Prior to joining Restaurant Brands International, Fernando worked for 18 years at Unilever. Starting as an intern, he moved up the ranks working different product categories and brands, including Dove where he led the groundbreaking “Real Beauty Sketches”.
Fernando has a long list of industry accolades such as the Adweek Grand Brand Genius (2013 and 2018 – only person to ever win twice) and constantly appears in global rankings related to marketing and creativity.
