Pop-Tarts hops on flavor trends for ice cream sandwich day

  • Fresh off expanding into the freezer aisle with ice cream sandwiches, Pop-Tarts is teaming with Chain, which reimagines and collaborates with popular food brands, to showcase two new iterations that take advantage of recent flavor trends (but will only be available for one day, in one location). 
  • The Pop-Tarts Strawberry Match and Dubai Chocolate Ice Cream Sandwiches will be available by pre-reservation at a Chain pop-up in Los Angeles on Aug. 2. Tickets for samples can be secured by texting a special number in advance. Those who secure a reservation will be given a location for the food truck to receive their samples.
  • For those not in the Los Angeles-area, the brand will be offering recipes for the special ice-cream sandwich flavors through its social media channels. 

“At Pop-Tarts, we’re always looking for ways to surprise and delight our fans with innovative flavor experiences,” said Leslie Serro, sweet snacking vice president of marketing, Kellanova, in a statement. “We partnered with Chain to reimagine the classic ice cream sandwich with Crazy Good flavor pairings like Frosted Strawberry with matcha ice cream and Chocolate Fudge with pistachio ice cream. Whether joining us at the truck or recreating the recipes at home, we can’t wait to hear what our fans think!” 

The Strawberry Matcha Ice Cream Sandwiches combine strawberry-frosted Pop-Tarts with matcha ice cream with a strawberry swirl, while the Dubai Chocolate versions use Frosted Chocolate Fudge Pop-Tarts and pistachio ice cream folded with a kadaifi and tahini-chocolate swirl.
