Uber Eats pushes links between food & football in new NFL campaign

  • Uber Eats, the NFL’s official food delivery partner, has kicked off a new campaign for NFL season called Football is for Food.
  • The effort includes a spot featuring Mathew McConaughey, Christian McCaffrey and Jerry Rice. In the spot, McConaughey tries to convince  McCaffrey that football was invented to try to sell food to viewers.
  • Additionally, there are spots featuring a crying baby, a goat and a knight in shining armour. The brand will be running a series of spots running throughout the season that will humorously build connections between food and football.

NFL season is under way and as consumers tune to watch the games, brands are bringing their big campaigns forwards to get their attention.

Football season is a busy time for both CPG brands, as well as restaurant brands, as consumers stock on food to eat while watching games, often entertaining friends. This effort from Uber features special deals on food delivery from partners including: Taco Bell, Wendys, McDonalds, KFC and Buffalo Wild Wings, to sweeten the deal.

The celebrity star in these ads hint at potential Super Bowl partnerships. Last season, Uber Eats tapped David Schwimmer, Jennifer Aniston, David and Victoria Beckham, Jelly Roll and Usher for its game day ad that encourages consumers not to forget Uber Eats.

The brand has not yet revealed if they will be a part of the Super Bowl yet, but they have participated for the last several years. We do know that ice cream brand Häagen-Dazs will run its first ever Super Bowl spot next year.
