OpenAI has hired Kate Rouch as its first chief marketing officer.
Rouch, who up until now has been CMO of Coinbase, shared the news in a LinkedIn post in which she celebrated her times at the crypto brand. “We growth hacked the Super Bowl. We got D.C. to WAKE UP to the fact that America <3s Crypto. We showed how to save billions in swipe fees. We birthed a memecoin ($MGGLS for life). Most importantly, we bore witness to the economic reality of America’s youth and the urgent need to UPDATE THE SYSTEM.”
The Harvard graduate will take on the new role on Monday December 9th. Hiring a CMO indicates that the group will be doing some marketing for the first time. In it unclear if the marketing will be consumer or business facing.
Rouch did not mention what she will be working on at the AI organization, but the timing suggests that OpenAI could be eyeing a Super Bowl spot.
