- Manscaped is adding famed skaters Tony Hawk and his son Riley to its ever-growing list of celebrity endorsers.
- The pair are appearing in a new commercial for the brand’s The Chairman Pro shaver, in which the premise is that the duo might pursue alternate careers based on their facial grooming.
- The commercial, developed by Manscaped’s in-house agency and produced in partnership with Tony Hawk’s 900 films, continues the brand’s approach of using offbeat humor to sell its products.
The new ad begins with each of the men in separate bathrooms completing their morning shave using The Chairman Pro. As Riley considered adopting a mustache, he ponders whether his father ever considered growing one himself. The commercial cuts to Tony considering the option, and how it would change their career choices. Among the options the mustache offers are leaders of a biker gang, hip restaurant chefs and low-end attorneys.
“We’re thrilled to partner with our fellow San Diego locals, Tony and Riley Hawk. As iconic figures in skateboarding, the Hawks bring a unique level of legendary skill and charisma that perfectly complements the innovative design of The Chairman Pro,” said Lucas Coyle, Sr. Manager, Brand Marketing at MANSCAPED, in a release. “Their father-son relationship not only adds authenticity to the campaign but also embodies the blend of classic and modern style that inspired this cutting-edge electric foil shaver.”
The commercial continues Manscaped’s tradition of enlisting offbeat celebrity endorsers to hawk (pun intended) its products. Previously featured were comedian and actor Pete Davidson and NFL stars Rob Gronkowski and Marshawn Lynch.
