Gaming and sports betting platform BetMGM has hired Casey Hurbis as chief marketing officer.
Hurbis joins the MGM brand from Rocket Mortgage, as the sports betting company looks to gain ground in the category against competitors FanDuel and DraftKings. The move comes just two months before the Super Bowl. In his new post, Hurbis will report to BetMGM Chief Revenue Officer Matt Prevost.
“Building BetMGM from the ground up into one of the most recognizable brands in the sports betting and iGaming sphere has been an incredible accomplishment made possible by the tireless efforts of our amazing team,” said Prevost, in a statement shared with Brand Innovators. “Bringing a visionary leader like Casey Hurbis on board adds another impactful advantage for our brand.”
“BetMGM embodies everything I love — a strong, recognizable brand, fantastically talented people and an insatiable competitive spirit,” Hurbis told Brand Innovators. “I look forward to immersing myself in the company culture and becoming intimately familiar with the brand DNA.”
Hurbis leaves Rocket where he spent more than seven years, leading marketing initiatives, innovation and strategy for the mortgage lender and its in-house marketing agency.
Under his leadership, Rocket Mortgage earned two consecutive No. 1 rankings on the USA Today Ad Meter, the leading ranking platform for Super Bowl commercials. The company featured Anna Kendrick and Tracy Morgan in these spots. He also spearheaded the launch of the Rocket Mortgage Classic, which has become the most awarded event on the PGA Tour.
Notably, Hurbis collaborated with BetMGM’s creative agency of record Highdive on Super Bowl campaigns while he was at Rocket Mortgage.
Hurbis serves as a member of the Brand Innovators Advisory Board.
