A few lucky mothers got the best of both worlds this Mother’s Day, courtesy of KFC and Proflowers.
The two companies teamed up to offer a “Kentucky Fried Buckquet,” a DIY arrangement, once assembled, was part fried chicken and part flowers.
“Mother’s Day is one of the busiest days of the year for both KFC and Proflowers,” said a KFC representative in response to e-mailed questions. “This year, we wanted to make Mother’s Day ‘Finger Lickin’ Good’ by bringing together two things mom loves – fried chicken and flowers.”
The promo also promoted KFC’s new Sides Lovers Meal, which includes eight pieces of chicken, four biscuits and three large sides.
Only a limited number of Buckquets were available for Mother’s Day. They were available through the KFC app between May 1-3. The DIY kit included a dozen roses, a glass vase and eight skewers, perfect for holding pieces of chicken ordered separately from KFC. The promo sold out within 24 hours, according to the representative.
Mother’s Day is a big day for KFC. The chain sells about 400,000 buckets of chicken every year, making it one of the company’s biggest sales days of the year.
