- Ore-Ida, famous for its frozen potato products, is moving to the snack aisle with the launch of a new product for salads, CrouTots.
- Inspired by #SaladTok and a cultural obsession with adding a side of fries to any salad order, the new bagged product is a way for people to add a crunchy potato flavor to their home-made salads.
- According to the company, more than three quarters of Americans make their mealtime decisions based on trending online content. As the trend of TikTokkers swapping tater tots for croutons in their salads took hold, the Kraft Heinz brand saw an opportunity.
“For over 70 years, Ore-Ida has been bringing golden, crispy potatoes to tables across America,” said Casey Turro, director of marketing at Ore-Ida. “When we saw fans swapping croutons for Tater Tots on social media, we knew we had to make it official. With CrouTots, we’re taking that idea to the next level, giving salads a craveable potato crunch only Ore-Ida can deliver.”
The limited-edition product will only be available through GoPuff in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta and Pittsburgh, while supplies last. To promote the product, the brand will run a digital out-of-home campaign in those markets, specifically near popular salad spots, using a variety of platforms, including trucks in all five markets and building cascades, digital newsstands and digital transit shelters in New York City.
