- Honda is looking to appeal to adventure-seekers in a new campaign touting the 2027 Honda Passport Trailsport SUV.
- The new campaign shows off the vehicle’s off-road capabilities while nodding to the brand’s overall “The Power of Dreams” platform. The commercial also includes a glimpse of the company’s Base Station Prototype, a towable RV concept that could enable further family adventures.
- The spot will run across multiple media platforms, including national broadcast, cable and streaming television, as well as digital and social media.
The new spot, titled “Base to Captain,” depicts a young boy radioing his father, supposedly from a far off planet. His father, at home, radio back confirms that he has replenished the supplies and is on his way. They continue to communicate as the father drives his TrailSport on dirt roads and through a forest.
As the father nears the end of his journey, he crests a ridge, and it appears he is on the faraway planet the boy was on. As the father pulls up, the scene shifts back to Earth, and the boy and his mother emerge from the Base Station Prototype. Other models featured in the commercial include the Honda Pilot TrailSport, the Ridgeline TrailSport and the CRV TrailSport.
The new Passport TrailSport includes greater off-roading capabilities, including a higher ground clearance and re-engineered suspension that improves approach, departure and breakover angles. Last year, the TrailSport model of the Passport accounted for more than 80% of the line’s sales, according to the company.
