Google Pixel convinces Steph Curry to make a change

  • Four-time NBA Champion and two-time All-Star Stephen Curry is known for his consistency, but even he knows some changes are too good to resist, as he explains in a new campaign for Google Pixel.
  • The effort stems from Curry’s role as a strategic advisor to the tech company, a partnership announced earlier this year.
  • The spot will run across broadcast and digital channels, including social.

In the new spot, Curry describes how his life is based on unwavering consistency, including playing for the same team for 17 years and taking the same first shot before every warm-up session. Based on this consistency, Curry explains that the Pixel 10 Fold must be an outstanding phone if it got him to switch devices.

The spot, created by 72andSunny in Los Angeles, shows off several of the phone’s features, including its folding screen and voice-enabled, AI-powered photo editing abilities.

The latter is shown via a photo of Curry’s teammate Jimmy Butler showing off a new bob hairstyle. Curry uses the voice editing software to put the hairstyle on himself before concluding “maybe I don’t have to change everything.”

Earlier this year, Google announced it would bring Curry on as a “performance advisor” for its Google Health, Google Pixel and Google Cloud products. In this role, Curry will “bring his unique perspective as a world-class athlete to help us fine-tune our products, train our algorithms and even design future hardware and features,” according to a blog post
