Goodyear Celebrates 125 Year Anniversary with New Campaign

Goodyear is celebrating its 125 year anniversary with a new campaign that celebrates the history of car racing from dirt tracks and beyond. The spot also gives a nod to its seven decade partnership with NASCAR.

The campaign centers around a spot in which NASCAR Hall of Famer Bill Elliott talks about Goodyear’s history over archival footage of the brand at the races from the last seven decades. The spot debuts as NASCAR marks 75 years of stock car racing.

“As NASCAR marks 75 years of stock car racing and Goodyear celebrates its 125-year anniversary in 2023, the return to Cup Series action creates an ideal opportunity to celebrate our shared history of pushing the boundaries of performance at the track and underscore our relentless commitment to future innovation,” said Meg Lee, Vice President of Marketing, Goodyear.

“Dating back to 1954, Goodyear’s relationship with NASCAR is one of the longest in racing history,” she continued. “`As the Official Tire of NASCAR, Goodyear Eagle race tires are the only component that physically connect the stockcar to the racetrack. The new ad highlights this endemic role that Goodyear has played in NASCAR for nearly 70 years and serves as a reminder that our pursuit of forward motion is never-ending.”

The new campaign is geared toward racing enthusiasts, as well as those who “embody the spirit of innovation and what it means to push new boundaries,” said Lee.

“While the spot may be geared towards racing enthusiasts, all drivers should know that our performance on the racetrack inspires the development of our consumer tires, fueling our commitment to take performance and innovation to the next level,” she continued. “NASCAR has served as a proving ground for generations of Goodyear Racing tire engineers, and the technology that goes into a tire to withstand and perform in racing conditions helps inform and differentiate the tires that our customers rely on daily.”

The :30 advertisement debuted on the FOX broadcast of the Daytona 500 on Feb. 19 and will air during select race broadcasts throughout the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season.
