Glenmorangie drops Harrison Ford whisky - Brand Innovators

Glenmorangie drops Harrison Ford whisky

  • Harrison Ford returns as the ambassador for Glenmorangie Highland to introduce his own limited-edition namesake version of the whisky.
  • The new spot is introduced as an “epilogue” to a series of short films released last year that depicted Ford heading to Scotland to get a feel for the spirit’s creation and history.
  • The new spot depicts Ford back in his home state of Wyoming, hiking through the woods on a crisp day. When he decides to go into his home to sit by a warm fire and a comfy chair (which echoes back to last year’s campaign), he is greeted by a bottle of his namesake whisky, which he proclaims to be “very nice.”

The campaign plays upon Ford’s public persona as a gruff and grumpy curmudgeon, but also captures a bit of a playful side that appears in private. Over the course of 12 short films, Ford decides after a meditation session to head to Scotland, where he meets the staff at Glenmorangie. He is given access to a castle (where he gets his warm fire and comfy chair) and heads out to film a commercial for the brand from the top of a Scottish mountaintop. The first series of films, entitled “Once Upon a Time in Scotland,” ended with Ford being presented with a namesake bottle of whisky.

That whisky reappears in the epilogue, as does a kilt that Ford initially declined to wear in the first series of films, but that he puts on before the end of the series. The Harrison Ford Limited Edition is available for purchase through the brand’s website.

“We knew Harrison was a whisky lover even before he arrived at Glenmorangie – so I was thrilled to make him an honorary member of our Whisky Creation Team as we went about creating his very own whisky,” said Dr. Bill Lumsden MBE, Glenmorangie’s director of whisky creation, in a statement.
