Famous Amos launches content series

  • Cookie brand Famous Amos will expand its “Famously You” brand platform to include a new streaming series that showcases people’s unique passions.
  • The series, executive produced by actress, author and entrepreneur Gabrielle Union, will be hosted by “Rev” Shawn Amos, a musician who is the son of Famous Amos founder Wally Amos.
  • The series premieres on July 24 on The Roku Channel. In each episode, an individual will share their passions through a conversation with Amos. A surprise celebrity guest will then join the conversation to find out more.

The series expands upon Famous Amos’s “Famously You” campaign, which launched last year in honor of the brand’s 50th anniversary. Over the course of a year, the brand has expanded the milestone moment into a broader storytelling platform.

“For us, the series represents an opportunity to extend the ‘Famously You’ platform beyond a campaign and into a broader storytelling medium, reaching consumers in a unique and largely untapped way with streaming content,” said Keith Peterfeso, vice president of marketing at Famous Amos parent Ferrero, in response to emailed questions. What excited us was how naturally it fits both our brand heritage and where culture is today: consumers are looking more for authentic stories and meaningful connections. Bringing this series to life felt like a natural extension of the brand while staying true to the values that have defined it from the beginning.

A trailer for the new series features Amos laying out the show’s premise. “Here at Famous Amos, we only have one rule: To celebrate the courage it takes to be yourself,” he says. “The more different, the more better. I don’t care what it looks like.” The spot then cuts to some of the guests and their passions, ranging from cupstacking to “speedcubing” to rhythmic pen tapping. Some of the celebrities making surprise appearances are also shown, including comedian Rachel Dratch, actor Michael Urie and tap dancer Savion Glover.

“Each episode has a theme, shared during the ‘Word of the Day’ and ‘Sock of the Day’ segments that reveal why each pairing was selected,” Peterfeso said. “Famous Amos draws a diverse set of consumers, and this is an opportunity for us to strengthen their emotional connection to the brand. We know people love our cookies. We want audiences to come away with a deeper understanding of the values we stand for: authenticity, inclusivity and individuality.”

All episodes of “Famously You” will drop on The Roku Channel on July 24.
