- Dunkin’ has brought another Affleck into the fold. To promote its $6 meal deal, the brand has enlisted Jen Affleck, star of Hulu’s “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” and “Dancing with the Stars,” to appear in a new ad as the “Value Affleck.”
- In the spot, Jen surprises customers at a local Dunkin by claiming the order for “Affleck,” wondering if they were expecting her “cousin” Ben. She then claims to be the “Value Affleck,” with “twice the personality [at] half the price.”
- She then goes on to trash the more famous Ben, calling him a “weathered 53”-years-old, before the spot cuts to the actor waiting in the drive-thru. He calls her comments “rude.”
In the first season of her show, the younger Affleck claimed that her husband, Zac, was a distantly related cousin of Ben Affleck. Zac has dismissed this claim as a family joke, but the claim nevertheless had legs in popular culture, as fans of the show buzzed about it over the past year. (The older Affleck’s daughter is said to be a fan of the show.)
Ben Affleck, a noted Bostonian, which is also the headquarters of Dunkin’, has been appearing in the chain’s ads for several years. Spots featuring the actor have also included his ex-wife, Jennifer Lopez, his longtime writing and producing partner, Matt Damon, and his brother, Casey.
