Courtney Brown Warren has been promoted from VP of marketing to chief marketing officer at Kickstarter.
In her newly created position, Brown Warren will oversee all aspects of Kickstarter’s marketing strategy, as well as the company’s sales and community outreach strategy.
“The CMO position at Kickstarter is really about unifying and elevating our marketing efforts across all channels and all touch points,” she told Brand Innovators. “We’re aiming to strengthen our brand presence, to drive strategic growth and deepen our engagement with both creators and backers.”
Brown Warren joined the company in April 2023, and has since led several successful initiatives including Kickstarter’s first-ever out-of-home campaign and the Kickstarter Festival, a 15th anniversary celebration. She is also credited with driving social media growth for the company, shepherding double digit follower growth and driving a 482% increase in engagement across all Kickstarter social media channels. Additionally, since she took the role, the brand’s YouTube channel has seen a 1,386.7% increase in new subscribers.
“This role is pivotal in ensuring that our marketing and our outreach strategy aligns with Kickstarter’s mission of bringing creative projects to life. It will allow us to expand our reach and impact,” she continued.
Prior to joining the crowdfunding site, she served as Twitter’s global head of brand. Before that, she was head of creative at Audible. She has also held senior marketing roles at L’Oreal, WarnerMedia (Time Inc.) and the Madison Square Garden Company.
