Coca-Cola puts the ‘Simply’ in pop - Brand Innovators

Coca-Cola puts the ‘Simply’ in pop

  • Coca-Cola is extending its “Simply” juice brand into the soda category with a line of prebiotic drinks that will include fruit juice and no added sugars.
  • The “Simply Pop” drinks will come in five flavors – Strawberry, Pineapple-Mango, Citrus Punch, Fruit Punch and Lime – and include 6 grams of fiber as well as added Vitamin C and Zinc.
  • The line extension gives Coca-Cola an entry into a growing category of “healthier” sodas, like Olipop and Poppi, which have seen tremendous category growth over the past several years. According to Bevarege Daily (citing SPINS MULO data), soda with gut health claims grew more than 300% in 2023.

We closely monitor consumer trends and strive to meet their evolving preferences, and the changing landscape offers endless opportunities to do that,” said Terika Fasakin, North America brand senior director, Simply and Kids. “For more than two decades, Simply has established itself as a trusted leader in juice with a variety of high-quality products, making it the ideal brand to lead our exploration and development of the juicy new prebiotic soda.”

The company’s team worked for over a year to develop the product, including working with scientists to develop the beverage profile and taste, creating the brand colors and packaging and getting consumer feedback, Fasakin said.

The Simply Pop sodas will be available in select retailers and will be available online through Amazon beginning in February 2025. The launch will be supported through out-of-home advertising, paid social and digital, PR, sampling and mega lifestyle influencer partnerships.
