Busch Light is hunting for a Hunter - Brand Innovators

Busch Light is hunting for a Hunter

  • In a bid to celebrate its standing among hunters Busch Light is running a special promotion to anyone willing to show their dedication to the sport via a name change.
  • The brand is offering to cover the fees and paperwork – as well as provide 19 years’ worth of free Busch Light – to one person who is willing to change his or her name to Hunter.
  • The promo is timed to coincide with the 19th annual release of Busch Light Hunting Cans, which are specially designed with camouflage to appeal to those who spend their weekends outdoors among the elements.

According to the brand, Hunter, a once popular moniker, has dropped in popularity by 93% over the past five years. The promo is a bid to rescue the name from obscurity and encourage fans to become Hunters for life. Via a sweepstakes, the brand will cover the fees required for one fan (21 and over) who declares their willingness to change their name, as well as provide that fan with enough beer money to cover 19 years of Busch Light Hunting Cans purchases.

“We know hunters are dedicated, passionate, and always up for the thrill of the chase,” said Krystyn Stowe, head of marketing at Busch Family & Natural Family at Anheuser-Busch, in a statement. “Our dedication to our fans is no different, so we’re celebrating our shared love for the great outdoors with not only new Busch Light Hunting Cans, but also a hunt for fans who’d honor the sport by changing their name.”

To enter the contest, fans will have to declare their interest in changing their name on social media using the hashtags #BecomeAHunter and #Sweepstakes. The contest is open through October 13.

Those who are already named Hunter (or those who are considering the name change) will also have an opportunity to celebrate this fall in Appleton, Wisconsin, where the brand claims it will hold one of the “largest private gatherings of Hunters” on November 16. To attend, fans will have to RSVP via the brand’s website, and the location will only be revealed to those to register.
