Keynote — Restoring Trust in the Digital Ecosystem

We’ve reached the nadir of trust in digital advertising. The terrible trio of fraud, viewability and data leakage are to blame. Lack of transparency doesn’t help either. Proctor & Gamble CMO Marc Pritchard stated bluntly he will no longer give digital media a pass, and that P&G would stop wasting money on a “crappy digital media supply chain.” For the sake brand safety, Chase CMO Kristin Lemkau radically reduced the number of sites her ads ran on, even though it meant higher CPMs. And consumers are blocking ads like never before. Under the crush of these challenges, the Industry has finally woken up and is focused on solutions. The EU’s imminent enactment of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has created a deadline and now companies are moving with an urgency like never before to give consumers control of their data, become as transparent as possible and to, thereby, restore trust in the digital ecosystem.
