Where Brand Marketers Come to Learn, Share and Connect

David Rubin has left his longtime berth at Unilever to pursue his interests at social firm Pinterest. Rubin, who was VP, Brand Building, U.S. Hair, at Unilever, joins Pinterest as Head of Brands.

“He will lead Pinterest’s global brand marketing, helping define the company’s brand strategy, identify key audiences and manage its marketing initiatives,” the company said this week in a press release.

Rubin joined Unilever in 1999 in brand development on the Axe product line of deodorant and body sprays aimed at college-age men. Prior to that he spent three years in Economic Policy at the U.S. Department of Treasury.
Rubin also served on the Advisory Board of Brand Innovators.

He joins Pinterest during a time of growth for the visually-oriented social sharing service, which has drawn a thriving following among fans of art, design, food, fashion and the decorative arts, among other areas. The company is juicing up its measurement metrics and is also beginning to sell “promoted pins” that cater to commercial exposure.
